Jeremy Kemp (‘21) | Editor-in-Chief

Hometown: Sarasota, FL
Undergraduate Degree/Major: University of Virginia, Environmental Science // Environmental Thought & Practice
Environmental Interests: Public lands; decarbonization / energy regulation; national trails
Personal Interests & Involvements at the Law School: Besides working for VELJ, Jeremy also serves as a peer advisor, competes with the extramural moot court team, and is doing research on the National Trails System Act. When he gets to take his student hat off, Jeremy can be found getting outside, playing guitar, cooking, gardening, or planning the next road trip!
1L Summer Experience, & Future Plans/ Interests: During his 1L summer, Jeremy worked for the chief counsel of the House Natural Resources Committee, doing a mix of policy and legislative law. This summer he will be working for the Sierra Club Environmental Law Program in D.C. In the future, he plans to practice public interest environmental law—either for the government or an NGO—and specialize either in energy or public lands issues.

1L Summer Experience, & Future Plans/ Interests: During 1L summer I worked at a regional law firm in Charleston, WV where I did general litigation work with some focus on the Clean Water Act. In the future, I hope to work at a larger firm and am interested in pursuing a career in insurance coverage litigation.

Environmental Interests: Water Law and Conservation, Land Use and Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Justice, and Energy
Personal Interests &/or Involvements at the Law School: Dani enjoys rock climbing in and around Virginia whenever she gets the chance. She also takes long walks with her dog every day, usually along the Rivanna, but other favorite spots are Shenandoah, Croatan National Forest, and, of course, the Appalachian Trail.
1L Summer Experience, & Future Plans/ Interests: Dani spent her 1L summer as a clerk for administrative judges at the Merit Systems Protection Board, Washington Regional Office. This summer, she will work at Parker Poe in Charlotte, North Carolina.

1L Summer Experience, & Future Plans/ Interests: During Jake’s 1L summer he was an Housing & Consumer Law Intern at Central Virginia Legal Aid Society in Charlottesville as well as a Research Assistant for Professor Kevin Cope and Professor Michael Livermore. This summer, Jake will be working in affordable housing law and real estate with Reno & Cavanaugh PLLC in Washington D.C.
